we use, so we are providing a short list. Some are used in emails, others
while talking about computers or the computer industry.
Here are some of the basic acronyms people
use in e-mails. When in doubt, don't use them. Remember your audience. If
they don't know what they mean, they are useless.

random access memory - could give
you a long answer but won't. The short answer is, the more the
better. Spend your money on RAM before processor speed. |
| JPG |
pronounced "jay-peg". A
file type of picture used on the internet. jpgs are most often
used for photos (as opposed to clipart). |
| GIF |
pronounced "gif", not like
the peanut butter, Jif. A file type of picture used on the
Internet. Unlike jpgs, gifs can have transparent backgrounds and
can be animated. |
| CPU |
Central Processing Unit - your
computer. |
